Corporate volunteers play a key role in Junior Achievement programs. They are the bridge between schools and the business world, and with their expertise and experience, they can authentically represent the economic sector, where today’s young people will also have to succeed later.
What is the role of a mentor?
A mentor is a volunteer who is available to the student enterprise as an advisor during the development of their business idea. A mentor accompanies their mentees and supports them in achieving their goals. A mentor is a person who, with their professional experience in business, helps young entrepreneurs in managing their student enterprise. The mentor’s role is to monitor the student entrepreneurs they mentor, provide advice in case of difficulties, and provide information on the basic operating principles of business. A good mentor is committed to supporting others, has good communication skills, and is willing and able to devote enough time to their mentee. During the program, the mentor holds meetings in person or online at times agreed upon with the business and the teacher, and also keeps in touch with the mentees via email or other communication channels.
